early?? The conference is only 3 weeks away. Most folks buy international tickets and arrange visas much more that 3 weeks before an event.

It's really bad form i say. They could have said "We need help with this conference or it'll be cancelled" and watch the community rally around it.

I'm just glad I didn't commit

I'm just glad I didn't commit early on and buy tickets months ago. Have a holiday! There'll be other Drupalers in the same boat as you -- Ryan mentioned he was trying to organise something less formal. Do a code sprint!
